Muchenje Safari Lodge: Accommodation Review

May 25, 2020

Muchenje Safari Lodge offers it’s guests a truly immersive African experience.

With an abundance of wildlife, extensive activities programme, fantastic accommodation and family atmosphere, Muchenje Safari Lodge offers an unforgettable experience.

During our 2-week road trip from Namibia to Botswana, Muchenje Safari Lodge was the first stop on our Botswana portion of the trip. And they most certainly didn’t disappoint!

We had been dreaming of our first trip to Botswana for the longest time. We had heard stories that the country had the richest landscapes and an abundance of wildlife without any type of fences. Our expectations were that Botswana would be like nothing we had previously experienced.

Part of that fulfilling our expectations meant finding the best places to stay during our week in Botswana. So, when we came across Muchenje, we knew that this would be the perfect place to start our journey.

Located just across the Ngoma Boarder, Muchenje is located perfectly to enter directly into Northern Chobe. With forest, wetland and plains, this location offers something for everyone.

Rustic Comfort and Limitless Views

All accommodation at Muchenje is open to the elements. Animals can come and go freely, which is what we appreciated so much about Botswana – no fences!

The suites are perfectly romantic, with gorgeous views across the plains facing Namibia. Sunsets and rises are plentiful and best enjoyed outside on a private balcony.

Each suite boast a comfortable private lounge area, a larger than life king-sized bed, and a newly renovated bathroom with rain shower.

At night and in the early morning, guests are required to be escorted by security to the rooms, as hyenas are famous for passing through the area.

Stunning Private Suites with Epic Views.

Activity-filled Adventure!

From the moment we arrived until the minute we left for Savuti, our agenda was filled with diverse activities and adventures.

But for those who prefer a slower pace, not every activity is compulsory. Guests are free to relax around the luxurious common areas, dining of delicious communal meals or catching a tan by the pool. The views around Muchenje are so tranquil and gorgeous that you can spend an entire day around the lodge and fell fulfilled.

However, we would 100% recommend participating in as many of the activities provided as possible. From village visits to Mokoro or an all-day boat and drive safari, the activities on offer are diverse and top quality!

The all day safari was a highlight of our 2-week road trip, as we spent the entire day outdoors, immersed in nature. You get to experience the Great Chobe River from the water. Enjoying lunch while hippos and elephants swim around you, is a unique and surreal experience.

All activities are provided by a personal field guide. We were fortunate to have Ali as our guide during our stay. Speaking form experience, a field guide can shape your safari in the most significant way, and Muchenje have got some of the finest we have ever encountered. Their knowledge and respect for nature and animals is phenomenal.

Our Fantastic Field Guide, Ali.

Muchenje Safari Lodge definitely surpassed our expectations. We are delighted to give them a 10/10 review from us:

Activities are the filling to any great road trip adventure. Find an accommodation provider that will go the extra mile for you during your stay. Aside from providing lodging, any great accommodation provider will want to showcase the best part of their region. Locals know best!
